Lunch Program
“What beliefs and values do today’s children learn at the table? And at whose table do they dine?” Alice Waters, Slow Food, Slow Schools: Transforming Education through a School Lunch Curriculum
Our school is committed to cultural education—not merely in the classroom, but in as many aspects of life as possible throughout the immersion experience. At L’Ecole Française du Maine, the culture and practices of France and the world are as much a part of the school lunch program as they are the academic curriculum. In the French tradition, our entire school community comes together each day to enjoy the comfort and warmth of a wholesome, well-balanced meal. Food, life and daily activities are discussed, explored and celebrated—en francais.
In planning our menus we strive for nutritious food with an international outlook, broadening our students’ exposure to food. Our school cook works with the administration and staff to incorporate cultural topics of the classroom into the menu selections of the day.
